Organize Under Your Kitchen Sink...

After we did our kitchen remodel earlier this year, I tried to organize different parts of the kitchen and really clean things out. Under the kitchen sink was one of those areas.

Spray bottles, liquid soap, detergents, cleaners, furniture oil, drain cleaner etc...if you need cleaners, it's under there.

Elevating the spray bottles really helped free up space on the cabinet floor.

Under my kitchen sink was like the black abyss. The front part was good, but if something was pushed to the back...forget it.

I saw this idea on Pinterest and loved it. I've had it this way for about 6 months and have no complaints...Love it!!

I did change up one thing though from the posts I saw on Pinterest. I didn't use a tension rod, because of the weight of the number of spray bottles I have, the tension rod kept slipping

I screwed in these closet pole cups or sockets. One is a solid circle and the other is a half circle to slip the pole in.

Screw in the solid circle for your desired height. Measure the height of the circle from the floor of the cabinet.

Use that same measurement on the other side for the half circle cup and screw it in with opening facing up.

Put the pole in the full solid circle first, then slip in the pole in the half circle.

**For the pole, I used an old curtain rod I had left over. When measuring the length of your pole, take into consideration the thickness of the 2 plastic cups. It's not much of a measurement, but it matters or the pole won't fit.

Having the spray bottle elevated off the floor frees up space for plastic bins of other cleaners, sponges and bottles.

Hope you can use this idea too!!

Happy Organizing,

  4. Wonderful post but I got rid of ALL my bottles except two now. I no longer use specialized cleaners for anything. I found I only need two things--a bottle of vinegar and water for windows/glass and a bottle of Dawn, vinegar, and water for everything else (toilets, sinks, tubs, etc.). When we moved across the country, it cost us over $100 to safely get rid of all of the bottle of cleaning stuff we regularly purchased in the grocery store. We figured if it was that hazardous that you cannot even throw it in the trash, then we didn't need to be using it. Now that we have switched to just these two cleaning bottles, we not only save money but save space and it's better for our health. Hope that helps! Blessings,

    1. I'm with you!! Vinegar and water is my "go to" for just about everything and Dawn as a backup. I've done it for years.

    2. I hear you! It scares me a little what's in all those products I used to use. I now have a few recipes for non-toxic, homemade cleaners I use. My shelf of cleaning supplies is so less cluttered too!

  7. Great idea, Karen. I had seen several Pinterest pins with the tension rods and have never tried it. For some reason tension rods are really hard to find in the right size. I really like the idea of using the closet pole ends. Thanks!

  15. I used this idea in a cabinet to hang pots and pans and it's worked out great! Vertical space is so useful.

  16. I used PVC Pipe that I spray painted Metallic Chrome Color. While using the screw in type cup hooks to make it stay. At Lowes You can get a 10 ft PVC pipe for around $1.70 each. The cup hooks depends on the size of PVC pipe you get. Also the cap ends for the PVC I spray painted those also. I bought a 4 pack of screw in hooks @ Wal-Mart $1.70 that would work for 1/2 inch cold water PVC pipe. But the pack of 40-50 cup screw in hooks is between $3-$4 that size will work for 1/2 inch hot water pipe which believe it or not is different from 1/2 cold water PVC pipe. I don't know the reason but that's just the way the PVC Pipe is. If you want Lowes employee to cut it for you they will to your measurements. I used the PVC pipe for some curtains as I was tired of the kind of curtain rods that I could afford the cheaper ones kept either falling off those curtain rod hinges and or bending. The PVC pipe with the cup holder hooks tactic solved this problem. since it doesn't bend & etc.
